LinkedIn will get a video feed similar to TikTok. Since TikTok’s short-form videos in a vertical feed proved popular, its competitors have nearly all copied the concept, causing a chain reaction in the social media space. For whatever reason, the dominoes are finally reaching LinkedIn, which is currently trying a vertical video feed akin to TikTok. Although TechCrunch’s testing has confirmed the capability, users have been able to see it recently. LinkedIn has not yet made an official announcement about it.
According to a video uploaded to LinkedIn by influencer marketing executive Austin Null and an Instagram employee named Jenny Eishingdrelo, this new vertical video stream will show up in a separate “video” tab of its own on the LinkedIn app. You may swipe vertically between the various clips on this video page, much like you can with TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels.
A well-liked social media component has previously been added to LinkedIn. A feature that was similar to Instagram Stories was added to the professional networking app a few years ago, but it was taken down after just a year or so. With its statement that it is attempting “to evolve the Stories format into a reimagined video experience across LinkedIn,” LinkedIn did, however, also imply that more video experiments will be launched shortly.
Since many of its professional producers and thought leaders are actively publishing video material on their feeds, it seems like LinkedIn is counting on the new feed to promote content from this roster. It is unclear, though, how much the platform’s user base would be interested in a specific video stream featuring information linked to the workplace. LinkedIn has also been experimenting with the idea of bringing small-scale video games to the network.
